Let’s talk achar. That bold, tangy, lip-smacking condiment that elevates any meal from meh to magical. At Mangokhas, our achar isn’t an afterthought — it’s a legacy in a jar.
We started making our Shikarpuri-style mango achar using leftover mangoes that didn’t make the final cut for boxes. But these weren’t bad mangoes — they were the ones with extra tartness and character, perfect for pickling. With mustard oil, fenugreek, red chili, and whole spices, we created a recipe that reminded us of home, of nani’s kitchen, and of lazy summer lunches.
Turns out, everyone else loved it too. What began as a side product became one of our bestsellers. We now make three types: classic mango achar, mixed vegetable achar (with carrots and green chili), and a seasonal blend that rotates based on what’s fresh.
Unlike mass-produced achars you find in stores, ours is made in small batches. We sun-dry the mangoes the old-fashioned way, mix the spices by hand, and pack them without artificial preservatives. The oil? Cold-pressed mustard. The taste? Pure nostalgia.
